What are we dealing with? – Overview of science base, key terminology, processes, and funding opportunities for climate change
This introductory module focuses on a climate perspective by looking at the scientific basis of climate change, introducing the UN climate change regime, and shedding a light on mitigation and adaptation as the major responses to climate change.
The module points out, that “development as usual” might even foster climate change and harm the environment if not considered in development planning. Second, it provides an overview of the international climate finance landscape, different sources of climate finance and financing instruments, including references to the private sector. Finally, the linkages between climate change, climate finance and the responsibilities of the sector are highlighted.
The interactive exercise requires participants to put on a “climate lens” and look at the relevance of climate change to their specific sector(s).
